Yes! Makeup and other cosmetics may be applied after Finacea® Foam dries on your skin. Consult your healthcare professional about cosmetics that are right for your skin. Avoid the use of alcoholic cleansers, tinctures and astringents, abrasives, and peeling agents. Avoid the use of tight dressings or wrappings where you apply Finacea® Foam.
The active ingredient in Finacea® Foam is azelaic acid. The exact way Finacea® Foam works is not known.
In 2 clinical studies of 1,362 people, Finacea® Foam was proven to help treat the inflammatory papules (raised spots) and pustules (pimple-like bumps) of mild to moderate rosacea. The most common side effects of Finacea® Foam in clinical trials were local site:
- pain (described as burning, stinging, “pins and needles,” and/or tenderness)
- itching
- dryness

It's important to use Finacea® Foam exactly the way your healthcare professional prescribes. Finacea® Foam is applied twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, continuously for 12 weeks.
Keep Finacea® Foam at room temperature. Do not expose to high heat (above 120°F or 49°C).
The can of Finacea® Foam is made of aluminum and may be recycled according to the guidelines of your state. Or, you can ask your local pharmacist how to dispose of the can.
